A Tree Weeps

The tree weeps the threads of her patience.
A thinning web of tangled knots upon
a crumbling bridge of doubt

on the edge of a raging river.

She treads rapids of indecision.
A hue of emotions and thoughts
rush against her skin, drowning her
in pain, and robbing her of voice.

she silently calls out to Hera

Crouching against the weeping tree,
she prays for the guidance to know
the strength to decide which way
the twisted old branch points to go.

a few threads of patience are left

She listens to her inner voice
leaving the weeping tree behind

a torn heart walks her path alone.

Wow, River, this one is so powerful and I so relate to it. Plus I am reading Women Who Run with the Wolves right now so "a torn heart walks her path alone" especially speaks to me. I was drawn in by the tree weeping "thje threads of her patience" and the "crumbling bridge of doubt." Wow. And the "twisted old brach" pointing which way to go. This is one of my favorites of yours. Fantastic writing!

Why did I feel the dew drop tears, the frantic splashes of the river's edge, moisture welling up around, cleansing the spirit with this one? Wow, great write!

River I love the way you use nature to tell your tales. Lovely but sad poem, and yes I'm Shân from FE ;)

"a torn heart walks her path alone."

days like today are especially tender as it is so necessary to stop at that tree of indecision and wait, wait, and wait some more until that twisted old branch of wisdowm points and says, 'this is the way, walk in it...' thank you for sharing these nuggets of wisdom and making the path seem a bit safer and more familiar...

Such vivid imagery here . . . thinning web, tangled knots, crumbling bridge of doubt (boy, does that describe the effects of doubt well). I loved this!

Effective, emotive, blah blah blah: i.e., superb work.
