A Silk Scarf

A scarf of ocher silk adrift a breeze
in mists of sea and sands of rising rays
a scent it lingers far from over seas
exotic flowers, spice seed whirling haze.

The scarf appears before a lone man’s feet
he knows the scent of whom it may belong
a woman’s love he lost in harsh deceit
her beauty captured both his heart and song.

He scans the horizon with hope and hears
her unforgettable laugh by the bay.
Their distant eyes unite anew in tears
among the dancing flames and petals day.

He swiftly moves her way in tender bliss
presents the scarf and then his loving kiss.

Romantic, River, and sad.

Hm. A romantic piece, to be certain, but exuding what I felt to be this almost other-worldly atmosphere to it...like something you might expect in dreams, or the afterlife, perhaps. Two lovers long lost, meeting up on some forgotten shore...perhaps in sleep, or in the great eternal sleep, but I do not think they have met again in life. That scarf...such an ethereal thing. Beautiful, though. Strong sense of imagery reverberating through this.

Romantic piece. "her unforgettable laugh by the bay" He must really be in love to hear her laughter after deceit and still return. Very nice use of form.

Ooohh my... so beautiful, River...
Such is the bliss found in true love and true romance...
That scarf was meant to be found by that man... and so was the woman..

Such a lovely poem, my friend... (sigh)...(happy tears)

Such a wistfully romantic sonnet River. Love the scarf motif.
