When young we don’t care at all
at mid ego’s can fly
When old we don’t care again.

I must be getting old...starting not to care again. Nice haiku, River. :)
The lovely freedom of not caring! Very nice poem.
at mid our egos can make up for all the not caring it's sandwiched between - seems crazy, doesn't it? the young and the old know where it's at... :)
I don't agree gospelwriter. I think it's important to strive for a healthy balance between~ be humbled and secure, have self love and be able to admit ones wrong.
I call this haiku~ vanity
Old age is a lot like childhood. Or maybe we know we can just get away with more when we are very young and very old. nice one.
Heartwarming poem of your love for your growing son. :)
here in the mid, i wish i had some of what i had when i was young...smiles.
I like this very much. Lovely haiku....

so well said...inbetween...what a mess we live..cheers pete
I never cared and never will!
Nice One Shot, River!
I think the "mid" lasts a whole lot longer than we might think. It's hard to give up that which we think the world expects of us. One vanity at a time, I'm letting go.
Then I will be young and old today.
But is it that we don't care, or just focus our energies on the things we value most.
Solid wrap-around work.
