E- Eccentricity 101-[ rewrite 4/12

eccentricity 101

we observe and mimic others to learn the ways of our
people. we learn to conform to mold and transform
ourselves for we notice young the fears people have of
difference and how they treat the different.

even so, a few daring teens break free of the mold playing a
balancing act on the edge of conformity with some extreme.

we all pass the borders of age into adulthood. a majority
continue following conformed playing the roles that walk
the mainstream, the societal pieces.

a few ride a personal wave of freedom and adventure
while dancing to their own eccentric beats.

many fall somewhere in-between and of these some are
eccentrics beginning to bloom learning to live from their
passions. the different labeled the odd, unusual, and freaky.

some eccentrics live on the societal outskirts, happy
others learn to walk both worlds, playing the game.
without either, our world would not be the same

for the eccentric are often the inventors and the dreamers
the ones who bring change.

oh, so true, River! whenever my children told me about someone being really strange. I've always asked them 'but are they harmful?'

as long as people are not harmful to the themselves or others then there is room for all kinds in my world.

variety is the spice of life!

great E word and expressed very well!

(you seem to be a day ahead of me with the letters.) just wondering why :)

What is conformity today would have looked quite eccentric in my day !

Labels, labels, labels...the world is perpetually labeling. But what is the world without the eccentric? Without the different? Without the uniquenesses that make us? Give me the dreamers, give me those inventors...let us bask in their vision. Absolutely lovely work, with sentiments I'm full-behind. Put a smile on my face.

I think children are natural nonconformists, but they are quickly whipped into shape once they start school. It's sad, but a nice quest for us as adults to try to return to the innocence.

Thank you!

I agree with you Shelli. Actually, when I was an Education major a professor admitted school was geared toward producing good American citizens. The mainstream...
Labels suck...
Your totally right Timoteo.
Hope I was raised surrounded by eccentric people- It would have been odd if I didn't soak some in. lol

The outcasts are the brilliant people of the world.

The so-called 'ordinary' or 'normal' people are just boring and plain.

Yes, indeed! Weird is wonderful, and I agree with the first commenter "but are they harmful?"

We are all weird in our own way, and all possess unlimited creativity should we tap into it.

I really like this poem's message!
